Links, References and Notes

NOTES & TO DO REMINDERS:

  •  add a post for each artist below over time.
  • add a post for each artist that I know of personally and have linked to from other blogs
  • add a post for every artist that I can find anything about online or in various books, etc. if I can find their website…
  • Add a post about new artists that I find in various places
  • add keywords and categories for each post.  Try to organize things as logically as possible.
  • add keywords for genres, time frames, eras, media, and and ultimately content similarities and subject matter, etc.
  • Create more details and description on each post. The purpose of this list is ultimately, in the future at some point in time, make this blog become a bit of an art historian tool as well as a personal tool/blog that explains my views on many topics related to art history, and how my own artwork and life fit in to the history of art.
  • Eventually, in the future at some point in time, as this blog grows in content and purpose, additional posters may be needed.  If you are interested in art history and/or in this blog and its purpose, contact me and I may eventually add you as a content creator for this blog in some way.  I have a love of art history, but need to and want to study it more than I have previously, in a variety of ways, and this blog is one way that I plan to do that.  There is a LOT that can be learned by studying art and art history.
  • After every 10 or so new posts I’ll probably go back and edit them with some commentary, and correct any typos, etc.  This will likely take me a long time to do from time to time, but is something I want to do.  One thing that really hit home with me in my final semester of college was when my art professor asked me where myself and my art fits in to the history of art… and why there was a need to create art.  I think this blog and my own blog at http://jeffthomann.wordpress.com/ are the answers that I’m starting to come up with to that question that was asked to me approximately 15 years ago.

—————————————————-

For simplicity’s sake regarding adding images or links to images, going forward, I’m considering Artworks created in 1922 or earlier as being in the public domain… so if there are going to be images in this blog, most of them will be for works made in 1922 or earlier, for the most part.

However, that does not mean that I won’t list artists here that created works after 1922. I can and will add a lot of those.  I just won’t be uploading a lot of their images to the blog itself. The blog will just contain links to the artist’s images on other sites, their own website, etc.

The goal here is to create a comprehensive list of artist and give myself (and possibly you too) a way to study art history daily in ways that I have not personally done before.

============================

LATER WILL ADD the other wikipedia lists below to list below or to another page…

==============================================

Excerpt From Wikipedia List of Painters with a few new Names added.  Over time more and more will be added.  I plan for below list to be a quick link to posts about the artists in this blog so that the post in question are easily accessible.

If there is a Wikipedia Entry for the Artist the link in the Artist’s Name will lead there. If there is no Wikipedia Entry the link in the Artist’s Name will lead to the Blog Post for that Artist here in this blog.  In cases where there are both a Wikipedia Entry and Blog Post, the Artist’s Name Link will lead to the Wikipedia Entry and the Link that says “Blog Link” will lead to the Blog Post for that artist.  If an Internet Archive Way Back Machine Link has been added the link to the archive for that item will say, “Internet Archive Link”

Ultimately, I would like to create a blog entry for each and every artist listed on Wikipedia, but that may take me a while since there are so many…
